Swipey.AI is the only AI companion app I’ve tested that imports its discovery mechanic from a dating app. You swipe right on character profiles, get a “match,” start chatting. The marketing language is dating-app-coded. “Become A Verified Model,” “Built for Studios & Talent Managers,” “Let Your AI Twin Work for You.” It’s a clear bet that the AI companion niche needs a different on-ramp than the existing “browse a character grid, click one, type” pattern.
I spent four days testing it from an EU checkout in May 2026. The swipe-to-discover mechanic is fun for the first hour. After that, the actual conversation quality and pricing structure decide whether the novelty has any staying power. Here’s what I found.
One feature is worth flagging upfront: Swipey is the first app in my audited catalog where consumer-side characters include AI copies of real verified models who uploaded their own likeness and earn revenue share. Premium voices are recorded by these models. I haven’t found this combination in any other AI companion app I’ve tested, and it adds a genuine quality dimension that pure-synthetic competitors can’t match.
I tested Swipey.AI from May 14-18, 2026. Created a free account, purchased a 1-month Premium subscription ($20.10), ran the same scenarios I use across the audited category, and verified pricing at vendor checkout from EU IP. I did not run multi-week memory tests, and I did not test the Studio Accounts B2B side beyond reading the public marketing. On encryption: I read Swipey’s published privacy policy and triangulated against third-party reviews. Sources disagree on specifics. I did not commission an independent security audit. Operator entity: INVAI LTD, Company ID HE 458964, Agios Alexiou 1, Strovolos, Nicosia, Cyprus. Affiliate distribution via CrakRevenue.
What Swipey.AI actually is
Strip the marketing and Swipey.AI is three products bolted together:
- Consumer AI companion. 240+ characters across realistic and animated styles, text chat, voice calls, image generation, video generation. The thing you sign up for.
- Creator platform (“AI Twin”). Verified models can upload their likeness, have an AI version of themselves earn money on the platform. Revenue share to model.
- Studio Accounts. Talent managers can onboard multiple models, automate content generation, manage payouts from a dashboard. Pure B2B.
This three-sided structure matters for one reason: it’s why the consumer pricing is so token-heavy. Hearts (the in-app currency) flow upward to creators and Studio operators. Every premium voice message, generated image, or “exclusive content” unlock burns Hearts the consumer paid for. The token economy isn’t a billing quirk. It’s the business model.
Verified pricing (May 18, 2026)
This is where Swipey.AI gets confusing. There are two parallel cost ladders.
Hearts token packs (one-time purchases)
| Pack | List price | Sale price | Per-Heart cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 Hearts | $29.99 | $9.99 | $0.200 |
| 220 Hearts | $59.99 | $34.99 | $0.159 |
| 520 Hearts (Best Value) | $134.99 | $49.99 | $0.096 |
| 1,150 Hearts | $289.99 | $99.99 | $0.087 |
| 2,760 Hearts | $699.99 | $209.99 | $0.076 |
Premium subscription
| Plan | Per-day display | Monthly equivalent | Upfront charge | Bonus Hearts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Month | $0.67/day | $20.10 | $20.10 | +200 |
| 3 Months (-60%) | $0.53/day | $15.90 | $47.70 | +200 |
| 12 Months (-80%, “Best Value”) | $0.27/day | $8.10 | $98.55 | +600 |
$0.27/day for the annual plan sounds smaller than $8.10/month, which sounds smaller than $98.55 upfront. They’re the same number in three frames. The “60%” and “80%” discount badges are calculated against the monthly rate, not against any sustained list price. They exist to make the annual upfront feel like a bargain. Verified at EU checkout May 18, 2026: cancelling within 14 days is possible per their terms, but the refund flow requires support contact (no self-serve cancel-and-refund from the dashboard during the trial window).
The Hearts trap, specifically
The Premium subscription gives you “unlimited chat” (messages don’t burn Hearts). But Premium does not give you unlimited premium voice messages, image generation, video generation, or character-specific “Fun Club” unlocks. Those still cost Hearts even after you’ve paid $20.10/month.
Concretely: I generated 12 images during testing on Premium. Each image cost between 8 and 20 Hearts depending on the character and prompt. The 200 bonus Hearts you get with monthly Premium covered about 15 image generations. After that, you’re back at the token packs. The 50-Hearts pack at $9.99 lasts maybe one session if you’re generating media.
This isn’t unique to Swipey. DreamGF, Candy.AI, and most NSFW AI companion apps use a token economy on top of subscriptions. But Swipey is unusual in how aggressively the in-app UI surfaces the Hearts balance and the “Spin the Wheel” Premium-only mini-game that drops tokens between 20 and 1,000. The gamification is on the consumer-facing side, not just the creator side.
Where Swipey.AI works
Customization is unusually detailed. Body type, hair, eyes, age, nationality, profession, hobbies, relationship dynamic, voice (with premium voices recorded by verified models). Granular enough that I built a character that matched my own writing prompt closer than I’ve managed on Candy.AI or DreamGF. Other reviewers consistently flag this as a strength, and I agree with that read.
NSFW handling is consistent. The AI doesn’t break character to insert moral disclaimers, doesn’t refuse common scenarios at random, doesn’t soft-block mid-conversation. This is a low bar in 2026, but several mainstream-leaning apps still fail it. Swipey clears it.
Voice calls are competently implemented. Premium voices recorded by verified models sound natural in 30-second exchanges. Longer voice sessions drift toward the standard TTS feel, but the entry experience is above average.
Mobile apps work. Native iOS + Android in addition to web. Multi-language UI. Not all competitors offer this. Many are web-only.
Skip the monthly Premium. Either buy the 50-Hearts pack ($9.99) to test for one session, or commit to the 12-month plan ($98.55 upfront) for the lowest per-month rate. The 1-month and 3-month plans are pricing dead zones. You pay near-monthly rates without the bonus Hearts that make the annual plan workable.
Where it doesn’t work
Privacy policy is vague on specifics. It mentions “encryption, limited employee access, and regular security testing” without naming algorithms or scope. Independent reviews report client-side AES-256 encryption with TLS 1.3 transport, but this isn’t documented in the user-facing policy itself. What IS documented in their own policy: chats and personal data are shared with staff, service providers, and analytics teams; chat logs may be retained for AI training unless you opt out. Compare to Secrets.AI which explicitly markets E2E encryption and training opt-out as user-facing features, and the transparency gap remains visible.
Chat depth is mid-tier. The conversations are flirty and responsive. They are not emotionally deep. Multiple reviewers describe the chat experience as “engaging but shallow.” After four days of testing, I agree. If you want a companion that remembers your dog’s name three weeks later and references it naturally, Swipey.AI is not that app. If you want a swipe-to-flirt scenario, it is.
Billing descriptor is “swipey.ai”. On your bank statement. For users who care about discretion (a non-trivial portion of this audience), this is a known issue with this app and a small number of others. Candy.AI uses “EVERAI LIMITED” which is similarly traceable; some apps use neutral descriptors.
Token-on-top pricing creates friction for media-heavy users. Premium does not include unlimited image generation. The friction is real but not unique in the category โ DreamGF family and Joi use the same structure (Joi’s video viewing cost runs up to 1900 Neurons, which is harsher than Swipey’s per-action rates).
The Studios side (briefly)
Swipey is unusual in publicly marketing a B2B Studio Account product alongside the consumer app. The pitch: talent managers upload multiple model profiles, the platform creates AI twins, the AI twins generate content and chat with consumers, the Studio earns from consumer Hearts spending. Bulk onboarding, payout dashboard, revenue analytics.
I did not test this side. I’ll note that this is the same revenue-extraction model that has driven friction in the original-creator space on OnlyFans and similar platforms, the creator brand becomes a license for an AI workflow that the creator may or may not actively manage. Whether that’s good or bad depends on which side of the transaction you’re on. For consumers, it explains why the Hearts economy is so aggressively monetized: the platform needs Hearts to flow to keep the Studios side viable.
Who Swipey.AI is for
- Curious users: Fit. The swipe-to-discover mechanic is engaging for the first few hours. The free tier is enough to verify whether you like it before paying.
- Customization-focused users: Fit. The character builder is among the most detailed in the category.
- NSFW roleplay users: Fit, with caveats. Strong NSFW handling. Plan for Hearts spending on media generation.
- Mobile-first users: Fit. Native apps actually work, not just mobile-responsive web.
- Users who want emotional depth: Not a fit. Look at Nomi.AI or Replika.
- Privacy-sensitive users: Not a fit. See Secrets.AI for documented E2E encryption.
- Users on tight budgets: Marginal. The free tier is testable. Annual plan is the only price point that doesn’t punish you.
Swipey.AI is a competent AI companion with a memorable on-ramp (swipe-to-discover), unusual breadth (AI Twins of real models), and a token economy that requires budget planning. The customization is the most granular in my audited catalog. The NSFW handling is consistent. The chat depth is mid-tier (not at the level of dedicated emotional AI like Nomi). The pricing is honest in absolute terms but obscured by per-day display tricks. If you commit, commit to the annual plan or stick to the free tier. The middle plans are pricing dead zones.
The verdict
I’d recommend Swipey.AI to someone who specifically wants the swipe-to-discover mechanic, who values granular customization, and who plans to manage their Hearts budget actively. I’d recommend against it for users who prioritize emotional depth, privacy, or who don’t want to think about tokens at all on top of a subscription.
It earns 8.0/10 on my testing. The category has both better (Secrets.AI for privacy, OurDream.AI for annual pricing) and comparable options (Joi, the DreamAI family). Swipey edges most direct competitors on customization depth, mobile coverage, and the AI Twins feature, which I haven’t found in any other app I’ve audited.
Pricing and features change in this category every 30-60 days. I’ll re-audit in July 2026.
